Norsk

This week was pretty much just me sitting in a train. I worked a little, watched my comp unpack, went finding with two other missionaries that knew as much Danish as I do, and went on too many splits.
New Companion
Ældste Ogden is a pretty funny guy. I talked to him for a second before we started our fællestudium and he said, "nope, don't talk to me, I'm doing personligt" he then proceeded to sleep. I'm pretty sure he's slept at least once every day. Well I'm nice to him, I let him sleep for a little and wake him up nicely if we need to go somewhere. He's unpacking his stuff and of course, I think it's a perfect time to sleep because I'm doing nothing. So I get to sleep... and he wakes me up shaking me and screaming! So now we have a bit of a war going on hahaha. He also will randomly walk into the room blowing bubbles... Or start water coloring. He also has 3 backpacks and he claims he has a use for each of them (he still hasn't convinced me that he does) (don't even get me into his obsession with shoes... in fact he almost bought a pair today)
The Undanish Trio
Ældste Laurence, Ældste Jensen (he is one transfer in), and I went out in the huge city of Århus and talked with all the people in our horribly broken Danish (well at least my broken danish haha). I hate trio work so much and they wouldn't split it up, so we were just this massive group of 3 people contacting random people and surrounding them, pretty creepy if you ask me. But we got around well enough, we all knew enough Danish that collectively we could understand everything that people were saying. Ældste Jensen is really dygtig so we didn't have to worry that much, I'm pretty sure he's better at Danish than me and he's only been out for 5 weeks. It was also way cool to see Ældste Laurence and how great he's gotten with Danish. He's doing really awesome, it's always super fun to reconnect with old companions, hang out, catch up.
Århus Splits
We had Århus splits with the Zone Leaders and I learned a ton from Ældste Krueger. He asks the weirdest questions but I love it. We asked things like "have you seen the Book of Mormon Musical? We are the actual missionaries from it" (it's coming to Århus here soon). Or what is on your bucket list, what is the meaning of life, how can one find truth, what's the most important thing in your life. Just a bunch of good questions that got them thinking. He also taught me a lot about the language and kept on correcting me in a great way. Inversion is a terrible thing in Danish, basically this the idea:
English - hopefully, we can get it
Danish - forhåbentlig, kan vi få det
Translated English - hopefully, can we get it
It's sad when hopefully, can we get it, makes complete sense, or just inversion in English will always sound weird. But it's something missionaries really mess up on, and it's really annoying. But anyways he helped me a ton with Danish, and so has Ældste Ogden.
Norwegian
So... Everyone thinks I'm Norwegian when I speak. I really like that. That means I sound Scandinavian and I'm getting closer to my goal. Literally 3 people asked me if I was Norwegian in the same day. I'm very glad. So after all that searching and wondering, the MTC taught me Norwegian instead of Danish. Desværre.
I Hate Trains
I hate trains.

Not really a story to this, I'm just done with trains. We travel for hours every week and it kills me. It's because they banished me up here in the middle of no where
Strength
Well, not a lot happened this week. However, many things strengthened my testimony this week. Even though I have the excitement of a new companion, and he's great, I've been struggling a little bit. And no, please don't think I hate it here or whatever or however things get blown out of proportion when a missionary says they have it hard. Missionary work is hard, but we all signed up for it. We are out here from 9-9 working basically a 12 hour shift. As missionary work is hard, this week was a little harder than usual, but I think the most important thing about this week was how much my testimony grew of reading the scriptures. By reading the scriptures I have received a ton of personal revelation, that has helped me through this tough week. I found Phillippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." I realized that this is a truth. And as soon as I read that scripture for the second time that day - when I really read it, I prayed for strength. Immediately if not sooner, I had a warm feeling that one can not describe. I don't know how to explain the Spirit, but I felt as though I had energy, I felt stronger, I felt like there was hope. It was quiet an experience for such a small thing that I did, and such a small verse, and such a small trial. It worked. Prayer combined with scriptures is inexplicably powerful. If you are searching for an answer, I promise you it is in one of the books that contains God's Holy Word. We just have to put in the effort to show the Lord that we genuinely want the answer. When things get hard, don't hold it in. Don't sit there and take it, don't complain of course, but let others know, especially if that other person is the Lord. We go through nothing alone, even if we feel as if no one can understand us (maybe in a quite literal sense for me hahah), there is one who will, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Challenge: Tell someone the origin of your testimony. Tell them about your experience with the Gospel, how you have found peace. (can be a member or a good friend, or even me :)
Word of the Week: at huk - to move (like to scoot over) only found in the north where I am currently serving.
Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30 "28 ¶ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

I appreciate everyone's love and support. I love you all so much and can't wait to read your emails. Hopefully you have a great week.

Med kærlig hilsen,
Ældste Salisbury
